The benchmark accounts they analyze mostly get a few hundred to a few thousand likes, occasionally into the tens of thousands — completely ordinary numbers by Douyin standards. Yet the creators relay storefront dashboard figures from these unremarkable accounts: 45 videos, 110K followers gained, 8,129 orders; another with 99 videos, 330K followers, 8,000+ orders. At roughly RMB 39.9 per order and commission starting at 50%, that's meaningful money. The secret is the audience. Older Chinese consumers trust traditional Chinese medicine and barely hesitate on health products — they watch a story, decide it's useful, and order. The creators computed one alarming conversion figure: an account with around 5,000 followers produced 8,000+ orders, a repeat rate close to 1:2 — the average follower placed nearly two orders. That's why “ordinary numbers can still earn ordinary money”: what's being sold isn't likes, it's real repeat purchasing from a precise audience. The model runs on volume and audience precision rather than gambling on a single video going viral.
