Senja Revenue: Separating Monthly Sales, MRR, and Reported ARR
Trace Senja’s monthly revenue, MRR and creator-relayed ARR claims to their sources without inventing current revenue, customer counts or profit.
Senja's public disclosures contain several different kinds of numbers. Its September 2022 report separated $852 total revenue from $321 MRR. A founder post said the company made $73,920 in June 2025, without defining that visible amount as MRR. A separate creator account relayed a $1M ARR milestone. These statements should remain separate until their definitions and dates align.
Checked October 21, 2026, this is an evidence reconciliation, not a claim to know Senja's current bank balance or audited revenue. The useful lesson for a founder is how to inspect a small SaaS business when its story arrives through monthly updates, social posts and third-party videos.

Which revenue claims come from which sources?
Use the original disclosure for each figure and preserve its evidence class. A founder speaking about their own business is closer to the accounts than a creator summarizing it, but neither is automatically an audit.
| Measurement period | Statement | What the source supports |
|---|---|---|
| September 2022 | $852 total revenue; $321 MRR | Separate metrics in an official monthly report |
| June 2025 | $73,920 made that month | A founder-authored post; visible text does not establish MRR |
| Undated measurement in the indexed video | $1M ARR | A creator-relayed claim in the Senja project record |
The monthly report embeds a post dated October 3, 2022, which anchors its September period. The indexed video's retrieval date is not a measurement date for the million-dollar claim. Keeping those separate prevents a tidy but unsupported growth chart.
A useful research result can contain an unresolved field. Write “current MRR unknown from these sources” rather than supplying a precise-looking estimate that a reader cannot reproduce.

Why were total revenue and MRR different?
They measure different things, and Senja explicitly published them as separate lines. The September 2022 report also listed 215 signups and 14 new customers, which are different counts again.
The original report does not provide enough transaction detail to attribute the entire revenue–MRR gap to annual plans, one-time purchases or another cause. It would be speculation to choose one explanation and present it as Senja's accounting policy.
Nor is 14 divided by 215 necessarily the month's signup-to-paid conversion rate. Those new customers may have signed up earlier, and some September signups may have paid later. A valid cohort calculation needs matching identities and a defined observation window, not just two totals from the same update.
This is a transferable research habit. Before calculating a ratio, identify the population behind each number. Ask whether the numerator belongs to the denominator and whether both cover the same interval. An easy calculation can still answer the wrong question.
Can you turn June sales into annual recurring revenue?
You can multiply the amount, but you cannot change its meaning by doing so. $73,920 × 12 = $887,040 is an annualized arithmetic scenario; it is not proven Senja ARR.
The visible June 2025 founder post says the company made that amount and mentions slowing growth, higher absolute customer churn and fewer signups. It does not supply a complete recurring-revenue bridge or an audited income statement.
If you need ARR for a business decision, seek the recurring subscription base at a specific date, together with treatment of annual contracts and nonrecurring items. If you need earned annual revenue, seek a completed annual period. Our ARR versus revenue guide explains why those requests differ.
Avoid reverse-engineering customer counts from a current public plan price. A mature subscription base can contain different plans, billing cycles, discounts and historical terms. Dividing one uncertain amount by another merely produces a more elaborate uncertain answer.
What does the million-dollar project record establish?
It establishes that an identified creator relayed a $1M ARR claim and described an acquisition story. The record labels the source Creator-Reported, preserving the distance between the speaker and Senja's financial records.
The underlying video, “What's Wrong With Indie Hacker Culture?”, says SEO and affiliates became important after other community channels had little impact. It describes progress over months. That is the creator's account; this article does not upgrade it into company-confirmed attribution or a controlled test.
Read the project's source trail before copying the distribution lesson. A statement that a channel worked does not disclose acquisition cost, customer quality, attribution windows or the effort needed to maintain it.
The next question is concrete: where do your intended buyers already seek help with this task? An audience of other builders may be useful for feedback while producing few qualified customers. That is a hypothesis to investigate in your market, not proof that any entire channel will fail.

What business problem sits behind the numbers?
Senja organizes the work of collecting and using customer testimonials. The recurring business question is whether that workflow continues to create value after a customer publishes the first set of quotes.
The official testimonial-management page describes organizing customer proof. It is a product description, not our hands-on review or independent evidence of an uplift in sales. We have not tested Senja against competing tools for this article.
For a founder investigating the category, map the complete job: request permission, collect the response, preserve the customer's meaning, organize approved material, publish it and keep it relevant. Then ask who owns that process and how often it occurs. A one-time website refresh has different retention economics from an ongoing customer-marketing operation.
The Testimonial project record offers another source-linked business history. Compare the customer problem and founder decisions, not a feature score. A second case can reveal a question you missed without proving that the two businesses have identical economics.
How should you investigate a similar opportunity?
Start with a buyer and a repeated workflow, then use revenue cases to check whether your assumptions are plausible. Do not start by treating another company's milestone as your addressable market.
Use this compact investigation sheet:
| Decision | Evidence to gather | What it still will not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Is the task recurring? | Examples of requests across multiple customer cycles | Future retention for your product |
| Who owns the budget? | A named role with purchasing responsibility | That every person in that role will buy |
| Can you reach them? | Actual conversations or qualified inbound interest | A scalable acquisition channel |
| Can you deliver well? | A completed task with clear acceptance criteria | Profit at a much larger volume |
Our minimum lovable product guide turns the delivery question into a bounded release checklist. If interest itself is uncertain, the fake door guide explains what an interest test can and cannot establish; use the broader validation framework to choose between methods.
Finally, keep a dated evidence ledger for every case on your shortlist. Record company disclosures separately from creator commentary and your own calculations. Buffer and Bannerbear illustrate two other disclosure formats. Different formats require different questions, but the standard stays the same: a reader should be able to follow each number back to the statement that supports it.
Frequently asked questions
What is Senja’s current MRR?
The sources reconciled here do not establish an exact current MRR. The dated statements must not be silently updated to the present.
Was the June 2025 figure definitely MRR?
The visible founder post says Senja made $73,920 in June. It does not define that amount as MRR, so this article preserves the ambiguity.
Is the $1M ARR claim independently verified?
The indexed source is creator-reported. It is a useful lead for research, but it is not an independent audit or a substitute for a dated company disclosure.
Can revenue reveal how many customers Senja has?
Not reliably without the subscription mix and metric definition. Current list prices do not reveal historical plans, discounts or nonrecurring sales.
