Fewer bars = easier, cheaper, or faster for an AI-assisted solo builder. Editorial judgments based on the case details.
Nick is a solo founder from Ukraine. He learned software engineering at 15 and got his first engineering job straight out of school, aiming at a big-tech career. In 2022 the war started in his home country, he went through a long depression, and he decided the corporate path was over for him. About six months later he found the indie hacker community, watched a friend's launch go viral, and started shipping. His first few apps made exactly zero. So he changed approach and built an AI-written blog about something he actually cared about — cocktails — then tried to drive traffic to it through every channel he could think of: Google, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest. Pinterest was the one that worked. He hired a person to make the pins by hand, watched what they did all day, and realised the whole job could be automated. He had the idea in December 2023 while still holding a 9-to-5, so he built on nights and weekends using GitHub Copilot — Cursor and Claude Code did not exist yet. A scrappy version came together in seven days, but it was not a real product and he had to rewrite most of it; the shippable version took about two months. He launched with a lifetime deal because he genuinely did not expect anyone to buy. He had roughly 1,000 Twitter followers and hoped for a viral moment. Nothing happened. The first paying customer took ten days. He switched to a monthly subscription, kept improving the product, and real customers started arriving over the following month. Two years later he showed Starter Story a Stripe dashboard sitting a bit above $16K MRR with more than 400 active subscribers. Note what is missing from that story: no launch hack, no growth loop, no viral moment. Our read: this is a two-year compounding curve, not a spike.

Nick pulled up his Stripe dashboard on camera and stated a bit above $16K MRR, 400+ active subscribers and ~10% monthly churn; the figures are self-reported and unaudited, and we did not verify the dashboard independently. The $39 starter price is stated by the founder; agency and enterprise tier prices were never disclosed. The product name is garbled by the auto-transcript (it renders as "blocktoin" and "Block to Pin") — we have used the most likely reading, BlogToPin, and readers should verify the exact brand before assuming. No third-party data (no Sensor Tower, SimilarWeb or public filings) supports any number here.
