Jordan Welch built Viral Vault for beginners trying to launch Shopify dropshipping stores. The toolkit supplies two products each day, with the material needed to list and market them, and a community where coaches answer member questions. Welch already ran a dropshipping store and had an audience of about 20,000 YouTube subscribers when he began asking viewers and people in ecommerce groups what blocked them. Product discovery and knowing how to use discovered products came up repeatedly. He first assembled a rough member experience in ClickFunnels, then promoted it through YouTube, Facebook groups and Instagram. The first launch attracted more than 100 people. After six months, revenue had generated about $30,000 for development, but his business partner left with that money. Welch continued, hired an overseas development team and spent $10,000 to $30,000 monthly for six months. The polished app launch in July 2019 produced only 30 subscribers in 48 hours, while development had put him more than $100,000 in debt. The company was still losing money in 2020, with about $3,000 in recurring revenue against $10,000 in expenses. Welch then resumed his Shopify store and returned to weekly YouTube videos. He says his channel grew from 29,000 to almost 200,000 subscribers over ten months, helping Viral Vault recover and eventually reach $50,000 MRR and almost $100,000 per month.
