Muhammad Younas began producing online events in 2008, first running virtual job fairs and selling tickets and sponsorships himself. Prospective organizers kept asking to use his software for their own conferences, which led him to turn an internal project into vFairs around 2015–16. It was already generating customer demand before its formal launch: Younas says he had a couple of customers ready to use it. Revenue reached $200,000 in year one, nearly $800,000 in year two, and $1.7–$1.8 million in year three. The company stayed profitable and bootstrapped. During COVID, revenue rose from about $2 million to $20 million across two years, then approached $30 million as vFairs extended its event platform into in-person events. Younas says it had more than 1,500 customers and that over half of its business came from in-person events. Its model pairs self-service software with free customer support and project management.
