Take the agency work of "building scorecard assessments for clients" and productize it into self-serve SaaS

ScoreApp's story doesn't start with "I have a SaaS idea," it starts with one concrete piece of business. Daniel Priestley (UK Entrepreneur of the Year) recounted his own company's origins in an interview: at first, his team built assessment/scorecard-style acquisition funnels for clients by hand, one engagement at a time — an online mini-quiz for a business (say, "score your marketing"), where the user answers questions, leaves their details, and becomes a sales lead. That was pure manual agency delivery, and a single custom project sold for as much as $15,000. The pivotal turn was packaging that same repeatedly-delivered work into a SaaS platform anyone could configure themselves. Something that used to take the team a week or two to build by hand became a few clicks for the customer; marginal cost collapsed, and the model shifted from billing per project — earn once per sale — to selling a subscription that replicates infinitely. Today ScoreApp has roughly 8,500 paying customers, grows about 4% a month, and has grown essentially by bootstrapping, with no big burn and no VC. That path — sell the service first, get good at it, then productize — is the real protagonist of this case.
