Mal Baron is a solo developer. After that he barely touched the product — in the video he says the app went untouched for three months while all his energy went into distribution. The results are verifiable: he shows his App Store dashboard on camera — $21,000 in December, $15K in November, $10K in October, month-over-month growth above 50%. Cumulatively that's nearly 58,000 downloads, 6.7K ratings, a 4.9-star average, a 43% conversion rate, and $23.6 in proceeds per paying user. He spent about $9K on ads in December, driving cost per trial down to $1.88. This is one of the cleanest samples of “indie development in the AI era” available right now — and it tells you without flinching that an app you can write in 3 days is not a moat. The moat is in the two things he did afterward.
