Links is a mobile-first link-in-bio tool that lets people and brands collect their online presence on a simple page. Charlie Clark, a software engineer, gave himself two weeks to build a Linktree alternative after noticing creators wanted pages that looked better. He started by reaching out directly and making pages for people he knew, then iterated from feedback. Product Hunt brought traffic, and he added a premium version that reached about $100 MRR within a couple of months. Instagram ads drove early growth before their performance weakened; Google search ads became the most reliable paid channel. At the interview, Clark showed his Stripe dashboard at about $31,500 MRR. He said the business grew alongside his full-time job and he left Squarespace in August 2024 to run it full time. The product remains deliberately inexpensive at its entry tier, with higher plans for custom domains and multiple pages.
Clark began with direct outreach to people he saw using link-in-bio pages. He would make a page for someone, send it over, and ask whether they wanted to use it; some friends kept using the product on a free plan.

Data credibility: Founder Charlie Clark opened and described his Stripe dashboard while reporting about $31,500 MRR, so the revenue claim meets the hard-data bar for a dashboard shown on camera. The figures remain founder-reported and were not independently audited. Pricing, ad spend, and operating-stack details are also founder statements; the dashboard does not by itself verify profitability or retention.
The first paid revenue followed the launch of a premium version. Clark recalls pricing it at about $3 per month and reaching roughly $100 MRR within a couple of months.
Links’ growth came from several channels in sequence. Product Hunt created an early traffic lift, Instagram ads generated substantial initial growth, and Google search ads became the dependable channel once Instagram performance weakened.
Early uncertainty is easier to handle when product work stays close to customer behavior. Clark had already built other side projects and used direct outreach to see whether people would adopt a more polished link page.
