Brian Dosal and his brother bootstrapped BrightGauge, a vertical analytics product for managed service providers (MSPs). It connected to the CRM and service systems MSPs already used, including on-premises SQL databases, and turned their operational data into reports and real-time dashboards. At sale near the end of 2018, the company had roughly 30–32 employees and was just shy of $10M in ARR; Dosal recalled average revenue per customer around $300–$400. The business became very profitable after several years of reinvesting and did not reach $4–5M ARR until five or six years in. Dosal described a roughly $100M all-cash sale, estimating it from a multiple near ten times revenue. Treat that transaction estimate as founder-reported, not a disclosed contract figure. BrightGauge won through deep industry knowledge, integrations, and a service-heavy approach that made customers successful.
