Supabase vs Firebase for Founders: 36 vs 13 Revenue-Backed Apps Compared
Supabase vs Firebase, judged by 36 and 13 real businesses: who uses which, what each costs at scale, and which to pick for an app built with AI.
Both backends run profitable apps; they just attract different founders. The ProvenStartups index holds 36 revenue-backed businesses on Supabase and 13 on Firebase, with similar median revenue. Supabase is the default of the AI-coding era: it shows up alongside Claude Code, Cursor and Lovable. Firebase is the mobile-first, Google-centric choice, often picked by experienced engineers years ago and kept because it works.
How we count: a business is listed only if its own interview names the backend in its stack. On October 17, 2026 we re-checked both lists and removed clone tutorials, unbuilt ideas and mentions where the tool was one of two options.

Do Supabase or Firebase apps earn more?
Neither, in any way that should decide your choice. The table puts both cohorts on the same yardstick and updates as businesses are added.
The top cases look alike, too. On Supabase: Chart Detector AI at $56K a month, which runs its entire backend there, and ColdSire, a verified $15K MRR solo SaaS. On Firebase: at about $80K MRR and , a solo restaurant SaaS at $40K a month. In every case the backend holds the data while ads, creators or search bring the money. The evidence quality is similar as well: 6 Supabase businesses and 3 Firebase businesses are third-party verified, and solo founders run 58% of the first group and 77% of the second. If one backend made founders richer, it would show up here; it does not.
