Fewer bars = easier, cheaper, or faster for an AI-assisted solo builder. Editorial judgments based on the case details.
Sean Tepper built Ticker from an Excel system that evaluated stocks through a green, gray, and red traffic-light framework. He used the sheet for four years and says his own returns were between 15% and 50%, with results closer to the upper end; those returns are not guaranteed and are founder-reported. After sharing the system with retail investors in 2019, he turned it into a SaaS product, launched the first version in 2020, and says Ticker later crossed 13,000 customers in 50 countries. The business combines financial-statement analysis, education, watchlist alerts, portfolio tools, and an AI-assisted 4M confidence booster. It took about 2.5 years to find product-market fit, with churn moving from about 11% to 6% and then to an average of 3.8% since 2023. The story is disciplined validation, not a promise of investment returns.
