Aurélien Amacker had been selling online courses about web marketing in the French market since 2010. He describes himself honestly: not the best at YouTube (he stopped), not the best at blogging, not even the best course seller in his market — but doing €20,000 to €30,000 a month, which is a good living. What he had that mattered was an email list of about 25,000 people and a first-hand irritation: the funnel and email tools available to him were not good enough. So he decided to build one, with no ability to code. That went badly first. In 2016 he contracted a development company in Morocco owned by a French guy who was a customer of his courses. The quote was around seven grand; he lost about a year and €30,000. He even flew to Morocco with his wife to meet them in person — "they were so good at telling me it was gonna be fine, but so bad at delivering." He fired them, cycled through several developers, then found one good engineer on Upwork and asked the question that unlocked everything: do you know someone like you? That produced a second, then a third. They built the product through 2017, and he migrated his own business onto it piece by piece — emails first, then payment and landing pages, then the courses. systeme.io launched in early 2018 with an email blast to his 25,000-person list. Four hundred customers signed up immediately, roughly €10,000 a month, which he says didn't cover costs but felt great. By June 2021 the business was doing $414,000 in a month, with 8,000 paying customers, 60 employees, no investors, and 100% of the equity still his.

Every number is stated by Aurélien Amacker on air with no dashboard, contract or filing shown: $414K revenue in June 2021, 8,000+ paying customers, ARPU €32 in France and ~€50 in the English market, €1.5M (2019) → €3M (2020) → hoped ~€5M (2021), $80–100K/mo profit, 60 staff, 6 engineers, over $100K/mo in affiliate payouts at 40% lifetime commission, ~600 affiliates earning $10+ in the prior month, 70% of sales from affiliates, and monthly churn moving from 9–10% to ~8%. Currency drifts during the conversation — the annual figures are explicitly in euros ('I'm talking euros right'), the monthly figures are framed in dollars by the host, and the only conversion given on air is €5M ≈ $6M. We have kept the original units rather than applying any exchange rate of our own. The interview dates from mid-2021, so this is a historical snapshot rather than current performance. Location comes from the founder's own aside that a peer 'lives in Lisbon just like me in Portugal', which is why region is Portugal even though the business is built primarily for the French-speaking market.
