An AI meme generator whose shareable output pulled 1.5 million users into a three-founder side project run two hours a week.
1.5M+ users · 400 paying customers · $8,500/mo combined with sister app Questgen.ai
Build distribution before the product: years of daily LinkedIn and Twitter posts supplied the cofounders, the launch-day champions and a #1 Product Hunt finish.

Supermeme.ai is one of two AI side projects Ramsri Goutham Golla, an AI builder in India, runs while keeping a full-time job. He reports combined revenue of $8,500 per month across Supermeme and Questgen.ai, and gives Supermeme about $130,000 in lifetime revenue, more than 1.5 million users, and 400 paying customers. The app generates memes with AI. Ramsri says the product reached number one on Product Hunt on launch day, helped by early supporters he had built through public writing and social media, as well as the meme generator’s viral potential. He currently spends about two hours a week on the apps and says the projects operate mostly on autopilot. He reports 70–75% profit margins across the two apps, with API costs as the main expense and no employees beyond the founders. Unlike Questgen, which he built solo, Supermeme was a team project from the start: Ramsri handled the AI, a full-stack developer built the app, and a marketer ran growth.
Supermeme’s first users came from an audience Ramsri had been building for years. From around 2018 he wrote daily on LinkedIn and Twitter about his AI experiments, and he kept posting about both Questgen and Supermeme while building them, with posts drawing anywhere from 10 to 400 likes.

Data credibility: Ramsri states every figure himself in a Starter Story interview: Supermeme's ~$130K lifetime revenue, 1.5M+ users and 400 paying customers, $8,500/month combined with Questgen.ai (the transcript renders it "question.ai"), and a 70–75% profit margin across both apps. Founder-reported and unaudited; Supermeme's own monthly revenue is not split out, and the zero-marketing-spend claim comes from the host's intro.
Supermeme’s revenue came from converting launch traffic into paid plans: about $130,000 over its life from roughly 400 paying customers, out of more than 1.5 million users. For an AI meme generator, design the first paid moment around the output.
A meme is naturally shareable, so each useful output can introduce the product to another person. Supermeme’s reported 1.5 million-plus users and Product Hunt launch show the reach this format can earn, though reach alone does not establish retention.
A viral launch can disguise weak repeat usage. For Supermeme, separate free signups from returning creators and paying customers; Ramsri reports 1.5 million-plus users and only 400 paying customers.
