A subscription service that helps Americans living abroad stop paying state income tax to the state they left, at $140K MRR on a Stripe dashboard shown on camera.
$1.7M ARR · 1,400+ customers · 120–150 new customers/month (Stripe dashboard shown on camera)
Sell a number, not a promise: Savvy Nomad's onboarding shows an American abroad how much state tax they could stop paying before it shows the price, which turns a boring compliance subscription into a rational purchase.

Savvy Nomad helps US citizens living abroad stop paying income tax to the state they left. Cofounder Bo says the company does $1.7 million a year, serves more than 1,400 customers and has saved them roughly $10 million in state taxes. On camera he walked through the Stripe dashboard: $140,000 MRR, ARR of $1.7 million, and 120 to 150 new customers added each month, with net volume slightly above MRR because customers pay up front. The idea came from two directions. Bo was pulled into international taxation after the war in Ukraine forced him to rebuild his life, and he had already shut down a previous startup in the digital nomad tax space. His cofounder met surfers from California who had lived abroad for years and were still paying California state tax, recognized the opportunity and built a first version. When the cofounder went looking for a marketing and business partner, the two connected. The product runs on Bubble, sells three subscription plans, and the company has six employees.
Savvy Nomad's starting point was a specific person: a long-term American expat, like the California surfers who had lived abroad for years and still paid California state tax. That points to where the first ten customers of a service like this come from.

Data credibility: Cofounder Bo walked the host through Savvy Nomad's live Stripe dashboard on camera: $140K MRR, $1.7M ARR and active subscribers, with 120–150 new customers a month. The 1,400+ customer count and the roughly $10M in state taxes saved are his own statements. Plan prices and margins are not shown.
The purchase is built to be rational. Bo's argument is that in taxes the value is concrete: the onboarding asks qualifying questions, estimates how much the customer could save in state tax, and only then shows which of three plans fits: Basic Domicile, a mid-tier plan that is the most popular, and Domicile Premium.
Savvy Nomad compounds in two ways. First, it is a subscription.
Bo's quiet stretch came before Savvy Nomad: he shut down a previous startup in the digital nomad tax space and says he felt defeated. His advice is that the difference between a winner and a loser is that the winner tried one more time, and the second attempt worked partly because it narrowed the problem.
