A non-developer built a SaaS in Bubble, took it to $10-11K MRR in his first year, tried to sell it to private equity for $112K — and concluded that the acquisition failed partly because his growth came from twelve burner TikTok accounts instead of an ad account.
listed on Acquire.com at a $112,000 expectation, deal did not close · $40,000+ lifetime paid ad spend · current iOS app portfolio: ~$3K/month, first $440 day · at $50/day ad spend: 8-10 trial starts/day, 4-5 converting
"Do you think a private equity firm wants to buy your app because you got a couple videos viral on TikTok? They're going to be like, bro, this is very risky." Your distribution channel is not just how you get customers — it is a line item in your exit multiple.

Data credibility: Two first-person YouTube videos from the same solo founder, with figures narrated over dashboards he shows on screen (Stripe, a revenue chart, the Acquire.com listing). All revenue is self-reported and unaudited, and the product itself is never named in either video — so the business cannot be independently identified or verified, and we have not tried to guess it. The $112,000 is a listing expectation, not a completed transaction; he states plainly the deal did not close. The 8-10 trials per day at $50/day ad spend is his own account with no screenshot described, and no subscription price is disclosed, so customer acquisition cost and payback cannot be derived. The 3-4x SaaS multiple and 0.5-1.5x agency multiple are his rules of thumb, not market data. He also sells one-to-one mentoring in both videos, which is a direct incentive to favour the paid-ads conclusion.
The first SaaS grew on in-house organic, and Kaleb ran it at industrial scale.
The product billed recurring from the first user through Stripe, and checking that Stripe account every morning became the daily ritual.
Two things compounded, and only one of them was a channel.
The stretch with no feedback was the organic one, and he measures it in erased work.
